Episode #10 features Dr. Vivienne Rowan. Dr. Rowan recently completed a six-month volunteer position in Indonesia with Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). MSF is one of the few non-governmental organizations that provide mental health to survivors of civil war and natural disasters. In this talk recorded on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, Dr. Rowan spoke about her experience with local and national mental health workers and the treatment programs she developed for the thousands of civilians (many women and young girls) caught in the aftermath of the tsunami and Indonesia's thirty-year conflict. |
